The Meadows Standardbred Owners Association is pleased to once again announce the donation of two breedings to the stallion Trainforthefuture to benefit the MSOA collegiate scholarship fund, which assists young individuals from harness racing families seeking to further their futures through academic opportunities.

John C. Green and The Green Acquisition Corporation, a Canfield, Ohio-based private equities firm, is donating the breedings for the third year.  Green commented, “We are thankful to be a part of this annual program. Many of the students that receive scholarships won’t always remember all of the key people that inspired them on their journey through life. But they certainly will remember the opportunities provided to them, through organizations like the MSOA.”

Trainforthefuture, a son of Donerail, is the sire of the 2010 national season’s leader on a half, Future Night Train, an Ohio Sire Stakes winning gelding trained by Richard Kirby. He is also the sire of OHSS winner Rose Run Marcus, along with OHSS Champions Rose Run Marci and Rose Run Nelli, full sisters that won back to back Sire Stake Finals.

“This is the fifth year for our scholarship program and it is just continuing to grow year by year,” said MSOA President Rich Gillock. “It is great to see people like Mr. Green and his company join our efforts. It just proves how important this program is to everyone.”

The breedings will be offered to the public by way of a silent auction. Bids must be mailed, faxed or delivered in person to the MSOA Office prior to May 31, 2013. The breedings will be offered separately to the two individual highest bids. If you wish to bid on both breedings, please clearly state that in your bid, otherwise it will be assumed that you are bidding on one breeding only.

Ten percent of the winning bids must be paid by June 15, and that payment is non-refundable. The remaining 90 percent is due upon a live foal next spring.

Trainforthefuture is standing the 2013 season at Hickory Lane Farm in Ohio.
