The Meadows Standardbred Owners Association hosted Caretaker Appreciation Night this past Friday (Nov. 16).
Three lucky caretakers were given a “bonus” from a random drawing to decide the mystery races. Two caretakers received $100 each. John Hayes, caretaker of Fox Valley Smarty, won the top prize of a $300 bonus and a keepsake blanket.
The prizes were made possible by a generous donation from an anonymous MSOA member that wanted to give back to those that work tirelessly behind the scenes.
In addition, Meadows drivers gave $20 to every caretaker that they drove for throughout the evening.
The MSOA provided cake to everyone in the paddock as part of the celebration.
