COVID-19 Update: Backstretch to remain open
A message from the MSOA Board of Directors:
We are all in this together. The Board wants to let our membership know that we have been working diligently on your behalf since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. We do admit that we have been remiss in not keeping everyone up to date on the issues that affect us and our industry. Please know that because things are changing so quickly, sometimes even hourly, it has been a difficult task to keep communications current. WE PROMISE TO DO BETTER!
This afternoon, March 23, 2020, we reached an agreement with Penn Gaming to ensure that the backstretch at the Meadows will remain open. This was our number one priority in these trying times. Now that we have accomplished this task, our sights are now set on how to provide support and relief to our entire membership. We acknowledge that other tracks and horsemen’s organizations have already made efforts to provide financial support to at least some of their members. While we applaud those efforts, we want to make sure that whatever we do, it is for the benefit of all of our members. Please be patient while we try to figure out what that relief looks like.
We do want to let all members who have their health insurance through the MSOA that their coverage will not be allowed to lapse. We realize that having health insurance in place at this time is of utmost importance. We hope that this provides at least a little comfort to those affected.
