pinkribbonThe Meadows Standardbred Owners Association is teaming up with Washington Health Systems to fight back against breast cancer this Saturday (October 22).

The “Pink Out” event will benefit the local breast cancer center that treats women daily in their fight against this deadly disease. With a post time of 1:00 p.m., the race card will feature a contest dedicated to the Washington Health Systems, as well as a non-wagering miniature horse event.

Missy Rothfuss, outrider at The Meadows, usually saves lives on the track, but has decided to perform that function in a different way. Ten miniature horses will be decked out in pink for a great race and great cause.

With The Meadows surrounded by several professionals and loved ones affected by breast cancer, it is a cause close to the heart. October is breast cancer awareness month and the MSOA has made the event an annual tradition.

“We have done this for several years,” said Heather Wilder.” But this is our second year for Washington Health Systems and is great to help those fighting against breast cancer in a facility right down the road.”

The Meadows Standardbred Owners Association will also be raffling a pink harness donated by Silverstone Decorative Concrete. Tickets will be available for purchase on race day, with all proceeds going to Washington Health Systems.

Additionally, a pink Michael Kors purse is being offered, with raffle tickets costing $1 each or 15 for $10. If you are not able to attend, tickets can be purchased on Venmo at @MSOApinkoutharnessraffle.

A Chinese auction, mini ponies with donation coats and a mini pony race will also be held as part of the festivities.

“We would like to thank all participants and Silverstone Concrete for the donation of the harness,” says Kim Hankins.
