The Meadows Standardbred Owners Association is proud to announce that on Saturday night of Memorial Day Weekend (May 25), horsemen at The Meadows will honor veterans that have served their country.
At 6:30PM, prior to the first race of the evening (6:55 post), horsemen will walk from the paddock to the winners circle for the National Anthem, accompanied by a local military Color Guard.
The fifth race of the evening will be then dedicated as the “Ruffner/Yoder Gun 23 Memorial” race.
The main track will be open until 9:00 AM on Thursday, June 6th then closed for the matrix board installation.
The Meadows Race Office has announced that the main track will be open for training on Sunday, June 2 and Sunday, June 30. It will also be open for training on Sunday, August 4 and Sunday, August 11.
The USTA has reported that Vernon Downs in New York has been quarantined following a horse being diagnosed with EHV (equine herpes virus). No racetrack should permit any horses to be entered that may have been exposed or may have raced at Vernon Downs and horsemen should take every precaution in this matter to protect their training centers and stables.

The Meadows Standardbred Owners Association is pleased to once again announce the donation of two breedings to the stallion Trainforthefuture to benefit the MSOA collegiate scholarship fund, which assists young individuals from harness racing families seeking to further their futures through academic opportunities.
The Meadows Racetrack & Casino has announced that due to several summer events, the racetrack will have restricted use on the following dates:
- Saturday, May 4 – Track closes at 10AM (Kentucky Derby)
- Saturday, May 18 – Track closes at 11AM (Preakness)
- Sunday, May 19 – Track closed (Car Cruise)
- Saturday, June 1 – Track closed (Concert)
- Saturday, June 8 – Track closes at 11AM (Belmont)
- Saturday, June 29 – Track closed (Concert)
- Saturday, August 3 – Track closed (Concert)
- Sunday, August 11 – Track closed (Concert)
- Saturday, August 17 – Track closed (Concert)
The Pennsylvania Harness Racing Commission has released the list of eligible 3YOs for PA Sire Stake (pari-mutuel) races for 2013. Click on the link for each list.
The Race Office has updated the Horse Approval Guidelines, effective immediately.

Additionally, the Race Office has announced two additional track rules, effective immediately:
- The use of cell phones while training or jogging on the main track or the back track is prohibited.
- Helmets with chin straps fastened are required while on the main track or back track.
Trainers, drivers and grooms are reminded that they must be members of the MSOA to receive retirement benefits. Membership renewal was required by the end of the 60-day grace period, March 1, in order to maintain benefits from the MSOA, including Health Insurance, Sulky Insurance, Third Party Liability and Fire & Disaster Insurance,
